Late last week, Delhi Capitals physio Patrick Farhart tested positive for Covid19. This was the first Covid case in any of the teams this season of the IPL. However, latest reports suggest that two more Covid19 cases have been detected in Delhi Capitals' team, including an overseas player. The other person to test positive is from the support staff.
The team was scheduled to travel to Pune today for their next game. But their travel has been cancelled and they will now be quarantined in their rooms and undergo RT- PCR tests.
Last year, during the second wave of the pandemic, the IPL was played in two parts after several players and support staff from different teams tested positive.
Delhi Capitals are currently eighth in the points table after losing three of their five games. In their most recent game, Delhi lost to Royal Challengers Bangalore by 16 runs after being unable to chase 190. Earlier, they beat Kolkata Knight Riders by 44 runs and Mumbai Indians by four wickets.
Delhi’s next game is in Pune against Punjab Kings on April 20. But with the team now in quarantine, it remains to be seen what course of action is taken by the BCCI to organise the game as scheduled.
