Injury update and team news
KKR – Pat Cummins is available for KKR for this game. Sam Billings is likely to make way for the pacer, while Sheldon Jackson will take up Billings’ job with the gloves
MI – Mumbai Indians will be largely boosted by the return of Suryakumar Yadav, who missed the first two games due to being in rehab at the National Cricket Academy due to a hairline thumb fracture.
Probable XI for both the teams
Kolkata Knight Riders: Ajinkya Rahane, Venkatesh Iyer, Shreyas Iyer (c), Nitish Rana, Sam Billings/Sheldon Jackson (wk), Andre Russell, Pat Cummins, Sunil Narine, Tim Southee, Umesh Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy
Mumbai Indians: Rohit Sharma (c), Ishan Kishan (wk), Suryakumar Yadav, N Tilak Varma, Tim David, Kieron Pollard, Daniel Sams, Riley, Jaydev Unadkat, Tymal Mills, Murugan Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah
Two players to watch out for from both teams
KKR – Andre Russell and Sunil Narine
Both Andre Russell and Sunil Narine have been the MVPs of KKR for several seasons now. In the last game, the all-rounder hit 70 off just 31 while also picking one wicket. One of the most fearless strikers of the ball, Russell is the most sought after player in T20 cricket. Narine, on the other hand, has been serving as the team’s go-to bowler for years and can also chip in runs at a good strike rate.
MI – Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan
Rohit Sharma is yet to unleash the batting genius in him, and will be looking to get a big total against KKR, a team he has historically always performed well against. Kishan, on the other hand, has scored 81 and 54 in the first two games of the season and has fairly lived up to his super-expensive price tag.
Who will win the match between KKR and MI?
If we look at how MI have dominated KKR over the years, it won’t be difficult to predict the winner of this game. They have a win percentage of 75.8% against KKR, which is the best win percentage for a team against any opponent in the IPL. Besides, they will be boosted by the return of star batsman Suryakumar Yadav in this game. Unless Mumbai put up another disappointing performance like they have done so far in this season of IPL, they are likely to be the winners of this clash.
