Chennai Super Kings will take on the Royal Challengers Bangalore match 22 of the Indian Premier League 2022 at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai. Led by new captain Ravindra Jadeja, the Super Kings have lost all of their first four games of the season and are languishing at the bottom of the points table. Another two successive losses will ideally mean they will not be able to qualify for the playoffs. In a bid to change their fortunes, CSK played Maheesh Theekshana in their previous game but that was not of much help. To make matters worse, Deepak Chahar, who was to return from injury on April 25, has been ruled out of the entirety of the tournament after recently aggravating his injury. Last year's orange cap winner Ruturaj Gaikwad has been in poor form with the bat, while the middle order has also been unable to do much. U19 sensation Rajvardhan Hangargekar is likely to get a chance in the next game.
RCB, on the other hand, come into this game with three wins in their last three matches and they have fared well in most of the departments. They have a balanced squad and a very good set of finishing batsmen who have been winning them matches. Harshal Patel has left the bio-bubble due to personal reasons and is likely to miss the next game as well because he will have to undergo quarantine after returning. Josh Hazlewood might make it to the XI.
