Match 24 of IPL 2022 saw two of this season’s best sides – Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Titans – take on each other, with the latter coming out on top by 37 runs.
Batting first, the Titans put up a stellar show with the bat, gathering 192 runs in their 20 overs. But the innings was mostly all about captain Hardik Pandya and uncapped Abhinav Manohar’s innings. Pandya remained unbeaten on 87 off 52, hitting eight boundaries and four maximums. Manohar scored 43 off 28 that was laced with four boundaries and two maximums. Down the other, David Miller scored an unbeaten 31 off just 14 at a strike rate of 221.43.
Kuldeep Sen and Riyan Parag were Royals’ two most expensive bowlers on the day. Sen conceded 51 runs in his four overs, while Parag gave away 12 runs in the only over he bowled.
Chasing 193 runs to win, Rajasthan could muster only 155. Apart from Jos Buttler’s half-century which came at a strike rate of more than 200, no other batsman could get going.
Gujarat Titans are now right at the top of the points table with four wins in five games. Rajasthan Royals are placed third with three wins in five games.
