Rajasthan Royals beat Delhi Capitals by 15 runs in match 34 of IPL 2022. Batting first, the Royals put up a huge total of 222 runs on the board for the loss of just two wickets.
Jos Buttler scored his third half-century of the season. Buttler hit 116 off just 65 balls that was laced with nine boundaries and as many maximums. In the 18th over of the innings, Buttler smashed 21 runs off Khaleel Ahmed, including two boundaries and as many maximums. With three centuries in seven games already, Buttler may go past Virat Kohli for having the most centuries in a single IPL season (4).
Buttler’s opening partner Devdutt Padikkal also scored a half century while batting one down, captain Sanju Samson remained unbeaten on 49 off just 19 balls at a strike rate of 242.11.
Kuldeep Yadav was Delhi’s most expensive bowler. He leaked 40 runs in three overs without taking a wicket. Khaleel Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman were also expensive but they picked up a wicket each.
Chasing 223 to win, Delhi put up a good fight before eventually falling short of the target by 15 runs. Captain Rishabh Pant top scored with a knock of 44.
For Rajasthan, Prasidh Krishna picked up three wickets for just 22 runs while Ravichandran Ashwin also chipped in with two.
With that win, Rajasthan are now the table toppers with five wins in seven games. Delhi, meanwhile, are sixth with three wins in seven games.
