Mumbai Indians slumped to their eighth successive defeat on Sunday after being defeated by the Lucknow Super Giants comprehensively. Batting first, the Super Giants posted a total of 168 runs in their 20 overs. Captain KL Rahul scored an unbeaten 103 off 62 balls that was laced with 12 boundaries and four maximums. That knock was enough to take the side to a respectable total after most of the other batsmen failed to get going. For Mumbai Indians, Riley Meredith and Kieron Pollard picked up two wickets each while Daniel Sams and Jasprit Bumrah picked up one each.
Chasing 169 to win, Mumbai Indians once again put up a poor display of batting. Ishan Kishan's poor form with the bat continued as he scored in single digit. Rohit Sharma got a start but was not able to convert it into a match-winning knock. Suryakumar Yadav, Mumbai's highest run-scorer so far in the tournament, managed only seven runs. Eventually, the side scored only 132 runs in 20 overs.
For LSG, Krunal Pandya picked up three wickets for just 19 runs in his four overs. Dushmantha Chameera was also economical - he conceded only 14 runs in four overs.
After this game, Mumbai continue to remain at the bottom of the points table while Lucknow have moved up to the fourth spot.
