Delhi Capitals beat Kolkata Knight Riders by four wickets in match 41 of IPL 2022.
Shreyas Iyer-led KKR made quite a few changes to their playing XI, some of which came under the scanner. Aaron Finch was back to the playing XI in place of Sam Billings, while Baba Indrajith was handed a debut and he kept the wickets. Harshit Pradeep Rana also played his first game.
Batting first, KKR put up yet another disappointing show with the bat, scoring only 146 in 20 overs. Both the openers Aaron Finch and Venkatesh Iyer scored in single digits. Sunil Narine and Andre Russell, KKR’s most valued players since nearly a decade, scored a duck each. Debutant Baba Indrajith managed only six runs. Captain Shreyas Iyer and Nitish Rana were the only two batsmen that contributed. Iyer scored 42 runs off 37 balls while Rana hit 57 runs off 34 balls. Down the order, Rinku Singh chipped in with a 16-ball 23.
For Delhi, Kuldeep Yadav picked up three wickets while Mustafizur Rahman chipped in with three.
Chasing 147 runs to win, Delhi wrapped up the game with one over still remaining. David Warner was the top performer with a knock of 42. Down the order, Rovman Powell remained unbeaten on 33 off 16.
For KKR, Umesh Yadav picked up three wickets.
With a fifth loss on a trot, KKR have made their chances of qualifying for the playoffs dim. Capitals, meanwhile, have won four in eight games and are still in race for one of the top four spots.
