Lucknow Capitals beat the Delhi Capitals by six runs on the back of an impressive show from captain KL Rahul and bowler Mohsin Khan.
Batting first, the Super Giants posted a total of 195 runs on the board. The skipper continued his red-hot form with a knock of 77 runs off 51 deliveries that was laced with four fours and five maximums.
Batting at number two, Deepak Hooda scored a half century. Chetan Sakariya was Delhi’s most expensive bowler as he conceded 44 runs in his four overs. Shardul Thakur picked up three wickets but was also expensive, conceding 40 runs.
Chasing 196 runs to win, the Capitals got off to the worst start possible, losing both their openers on single digit scores before Mitchell Marsh and Rishabh Pant brought some momentum back with knocks of 37 and 44, respectively. Down the order, Rovman Powell (35) and Axar Patel (42) put up a good fight but eventually Delhi fell short of the target by six runs.
Mohsin Khan was Lucknow’s best bowler. He picked up four wickets for only 16 runs in his four overs. The other three wickets were picked by Dushmantha Chameera, Krishnappa Gowtham and Ravi Bishnoi.
After this game, the Super Giants are second in the points table while Delhi have slumped to the sixth spot.
"I think it's a hard loss, but we have to start winning close matches. We came close in a few games but we are losing it. Really happy that the bowlers pulled it back. But on these kinds of wickets when the bowlers put up a helping hand, we got to perform as a batting unit as well," said Delhi captain Pant at the post-match presentation.
