The Delhi Capitals beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 21 runs in match 50 of IPL 2022 and with that win, they have kept their hopes for the playoffs alive.
This win has largely come on the back of David Warner and Rovman Powell's performances. Warner remained unbeaten on 92 off 58 balls and hit 12 boundaries and three maximums during his stay at the crease. Powell, on the other hand, scored 67 off just 35 at a strike rate of over 190. His knock was laced with three boundaries and six maximums. Earlier in the game, Mandeep Singh scored a duck while Mitchell Marsh and skipper Rishabh Pant chipped in with 10 and 26 runs respectively.
Chasing a big total of 207 to win, the Sunrisers got off to the worst start possible, losing both their openers early. Abhishek Sharma and Kane Williamson scored just 7 and 4 runs respectively. The middle order comprising Rahul Tripathi, Aiden Markram and Nicholas Pooran scored runs but that wasn't enough to take the team over the line. Pooran was particularly impressive with a knock of 62 but with not much help from the lower middle order, Hyderabad eventually fell short of the target by 23 runs.
Earlier in the game, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Umran Malik and Shreyas Gopal picked up a wicket each. For Delhi, Khaleel Ahmed picked up three wickets while Shardul Thakur grabbed two. Anrich Nortje, Mitchell Marsh and Kuldeep Yadav also chipped in with one each.
After this game, Delhi Capitals have moved up to the fifth spot in the points table. SRH, meanwhile, are placed sixth and are still in contention to make it to the playoffs.
