Gujarat Titans will play against the wooden spooners Mumbai Indians in match 51 of IPL 2022 at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. Gujarat are currently leading the points table eight wins in 10 games and only two losses. Mumbai, meanwhile, have just one win in nine games, which came in their most recent game against the Rajasthan Royals couple of days ago.
Although they won the game, it can be noted that it was once again a one-man show, with the man being Suryakumar Yadav. Chasing 159 to win, Mumbai stuttered before Yadav and Tilak Verma, their two highest-run scorers this season, came to the rescue.
Captain Rohit Sharma and his opening partner Ishan Kishan have been Mumbai’s biggest disappointment this season. Both the openers have not delivered up to expectations, which knocked Mumbai out of the playoffs contention quite early in the tournament.
Gujarat, on the other hand, have been helped by the performances of the likes of captain Hardik Pandya, all-rounder Rahul Tewatia and bowler Rashid Khan, who has been more impressive with the bat this season rather than with the ball.
If Mumbai win this game, they will still remain at the bottom of the points table. Even if they win all their remaining league games, they will not be able to make it to the knockouts. Gujarat, meanwhile, will be looking for a win to secure a top two spot in the points table.
