Royal Challengers Bangalore are now closer to making it to the playoffs after registering a huge win over the Sunrisers Hyderabad. After posting 192 runs on the board, they dismantled Hyderabad for 125 runs.
Virat Kohli scored a duck, his third of the season, but Faf du Plessis, Rajat Patidar, Glenn Maxwell and Dinesh Karthik played well to take RCB to a good total. Plessis scored 73 off 50 that was laced with eight boundaries and two maximums. Patidar hit 48 off 38 while Maxwell contributed 33 off 24. But it was Dinesh Karthik who stole the show. The wicketkeeper batsman scored 30 off just 8 balls, hitting four sixes and a four. His knock came at a strike rate of 375.
Chasing 193 to win, the Sunrisers got off to the worst start possible, losing both their openers for a duck. Rahul Tripathi scored 58 off 37 which was also the only significant knock from the Hyderabad batting line-up. Aiden Markram and Nicholas Pooran got starts but were not able to convert them as Hyderabad were eventually bundled out for 125 in 19.2 overs.
Wanindu Hasaranga was the best bowler for Bangalore. He picked up five wickets for just 18 runs in his four overs. Josh Hazlewood picked up two wickets while Glenn Maxwell and Harshal Patel also chipped in with one each.
