Two sides that are no longer in the race to the playoffs – Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders – will take on each other in match 56 of IPL 2022. Both the teams are at the bottom of the points table.
When MI and KKR met earlier this season, the Shreyas Iyer-led side won by five wickets. A good bowling performance helped KKR restrict the Rohit Sharma-led side to a first innings score of 161, after which a half-century each from Venkatesh Iyer and Pat Cummins helped them chase down the target. A month later, both Iyer and Cummins have been dropped from the playing XI due to a string of poor performances.
KKR might be without Umesh Yadav in this game, who is currently the joint-second-most wicket-taker in the powerplay overs. Yadav missed KKR’s last clash after pulling his calf-muscle and so far there is no update on his availability.
Overall, MI and KKR have played 30 matches between them. Mumbai have been absolutely dominating with 22 wins, while KKR have just eight wins. The highest total posted by MI against KKR is 210, while the highest total posted by KKR against MI is 232. The lowest totals posted by each side other each other is 108 (MI) and 67 (KKR).
