IPL 2022 Match 57: LSG vs GT preview

Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans, the two teams that are heading the points table, will take on each other in match 57 of IPL 2022. Both the teams have 16 points each to their names but due to a slightly better NRR, the top spot has been occupied by Lucknow. The side that wins this game will warrant a top two finish in the league stage for themselves.

Lucknow come into this game after thrashing Kolkata by 75 runs late last week. A half century by Quinton de Kock propelled them to a first innings total of 176, which their bowlers helped defend effortlessly. Avesh Khan and Jason Holder picked up three wickets each to bundle out Kolkata for just 101 runs in 14.3 overs, which drastically improved Lucknow’s net run rate.

Gujarat Titans, meanwhile, have lost both of their last two games. They lost to Punjab Kings by eight wickets on May 3, followed by another loss to Mumbai Indians on May 6. They will be looking to avoid a hat-trick of losses and pull themselves back on track ahead of the playoffs, which they are already confirmed to play.

When Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants met earlier this tournament, the Hardik Pandya-led side won by five wickets. They wrapped up a chase of 159 runs in 19.4 overs. Mohammad Shami was the Player of the Match for his spell of 3 for 25 in four overs.
