Two teams that are looking to confirm their spot in the playoffs – Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals – will play against each other in match 58 of IPL 2022. The Royals are currently third in the points table with seven wins in 11 games and 14 points. Even if they lose the next game, they can still qualify by winning their last league game. Capitals, meanwhile, are fifth with five wins in 11 games and 10 points and a loss in the next game will virtually see them get knocked out of the playoffs race. Currently, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings also have 10 points under their belt, which makes this game, and all the remaining three games a must-win for the Capitals.
The Capitals have been largely inconsistent this season and that has hurt their chances to qualify for the playoffs. They come into this game after being thrashed by 91 runs by the Chennai Super Kings. Their bowlers leaked plenty of runs and allowed CSK to post 208 runs in their 20 overs. This was followed by a completely lacklustre batting performance which saw Delhi being bundled out for 117 runs in 17.4 overs. Some of their big names have been inconsistent and their bowling, which was impressive in the first half of the season, has also come under the scanner. Kuldeep Yadav was having a good season, but was hit for plenty of runs in the previous two games.
