Mumbai Indians are all set to play their last league game of IPL 2022 against the Delhi Capitals, who need to win this game to make the playoffs. If Delhi Capitals lose this game, the Royal Challengers Bangalore will go through the playoffs.
Mumbai Indians have nothing to gain or lose from this game, which is why they might give a chance to some playoffs from their bench strength. One such player could be Sachin Tendulkar's son Arjun Tendulkar, who has been with the franchise since 2020 but has not got an opportunity in the playing XI.
The uncapped Tilak Verma has been the surprise performer for Mumbai Indians this season. He is the side's leading run scorer and will be looking to sign off the season with another impressive knock. For Delhi, David Warner is their highest run-getter but has been unable to get going in the last few games. But Mitchell Marsh has made up for Warner's dip in form with a half century in both his last two innings.
When Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians met for the reverse fixture in March, Delhi won by four wickets. Batting first, Mumbai Indians posted a total of 177 runs in 20 overs with help from an unbeaten 81 from Ishan Kishan. Chasing 178 to win, Delhi went over the line with 10 balls remaining. Lalit Yadav and Axar Patel were the star performers. Yadav remained unbeaten on 48 while Patel was not out on 38 off just 17.
