We are done with the league games of IPL 2022 with the last one between Punjab Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad, which the latter lost by five wickets.
The result of this game will not change anything for the teams that have already made the playoffs, i.e. the Gujarat Titans, Lucknow Super Giants, Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Batting first, SRH posted a total of 157 in their 20 overs. Young opened Abhishek Sharma top scored with a knock of 43 while Rahul Tripathi, Aiden Markram, Washington Sundar and Romario Shepherd played good cameos. For Punjab, Nathan Ellis and Harpreet Brar picked up three wickets each. Chasing 158 to win, Punjab wrapped up the game in the 15th over itself. Liam Livingstone remained unbeaten on 49.
The tournament will now advance to its next stage - the playoffs - which begin in Kolkata on Wednesday. Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals will take on each other in the first qualifier, while Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore will play the eliminator. The loser of the RR vs GT game will then play the winner of the LSG vs RCB game. Whoever wins will play the winner of the Qualifier 1 in the final in Ahmedabad.
