Ireland head coach Graham Ford is set to miss out the upcoming T20I series because of an injury.
Cricket Ireland formally announced that coach Graham Ford won’t make it back in time for the T20I series against the Afghanistan team. The coach had encountered a slip accident in his home which fractured him badly.
Upon having it checked by a local doctor, he discovered the full extent of the injury. As it had turned out, the Ireland coach had suffered from fractured vertebrae and three broken ribs.
The accident occurred before coach Ford was set to fly to South Africa to join the Ireland Wolves for their upcoming match. However, he is currently advised to stay in Dublin to rehabilitate for the coming days.
For the meantime, assistant coach Rob Cassell will take over Ford’s duties as a coach. Another coach will also be added to the team to make up for Cassell’s place as the bowling coach.
Cricket Ireland also stated that they are currently coordinating with the government to monitor the situation with regards to the coronavirus outbreak and to ensure the health conditions of their players.
The T20I series between Ireland and Afghanistan is set to begin on March 6 at the Greater Noida. To further understand the different formats of cricket, visit Betwala.
