Delhi Capitals player Ishant Sharma has been ruled out of the entire season of the IPL after having sustained a muscle tear.
Delhi Capitals fast bowler Ishant Sharma experienced pain on his ribcage during the team’s training. After having undergone some tests, it was discovered that he suffered from a muscle tear. With that, he had been ruled out from the entirety of the season.
An official statement from the franchise stated, ‘Ishant Sharma experienced an acute episode of left rib cage pain while bowling at a team training session on 7 October 2020 in Dubai. Subsequent investigations revealed that he sustained a left internal oblique muscle tear’.
Sharma has not been the first player to have been injured in the Delhi Capitals for this season. Other players who happened to sustain some injuries were Ravichandran Ashwin who had a shoulder injury and Rishabh Pant who had suffered from a hamstring injury.
This has not been Sharma’s first injury this year as he had also been ruled out of India’s tour of New Zealand last February due to an ankle injury. As he gets ruled out of the league, his next assignment would have to be India’s Test tour of Australia which is scheduled from December to January.
So far, the Delhi Capitals are on the second spot of the league’s points table with 10 points despite having lost their previous game against the Mumbai Indians. The next game of the team is scheduled on October 14 where the odds are -149.25 for the Delhi Capitals and +112 for the Rajasthan Royals.
