The head coach will continue his post until 2022
Former Australian pacer Jason Gillespie extends his contract as head coach of Sussex. He was appointed in the position last year after his success in the County Championship from 2014 to 2015. Sussex achieved success in the T20 Blast last year as they reached the final. This year, they managed to make it in the quarter-finals.
The 44-year-old head coach said that he is absolutely delighted to extend his tenure with the team. ‘I absolutely love the place and everyone at the club has been fantastic since I joined’, he said.
‘I really feel we're moving in the right direction, which is really pleasing. I can't fault the efforts of all our players and coaches. We're all on the same page; everyone wants what's best for the club, and I feel we're progressing in reaching those aims’.
‘We've had some really good times together, and we've had some challenging times, but we're all clear about what we're setting out to achieve and focussed on improving and developing to keep us moving forward’.
Sussex’s chief executive Rob Andrew said that Gillespie’s contract is extended until 2022. He confidently said that there will be changes in the next few years.
