Jasprit Bumrah made it back to the list of top 10 Test bowlers according to the latest rankings posted by the ICC.
Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah moved four places up in the Test match rankings that had been recently released by the International Cricket Council (ICC). He may just have returned from a long layoff due to a back injury but his performance proved that he deserved the 7th spot. From the 11th spot which he used to sit on, Bumrah has shown how he’s worthy of appraisal in spite of their team’s current loss.
Despite being whitewashed in the tour against New Zealand, India still managed to remain on top of the Test match rankings of the ICC. The Men in Blue garnered a total of 116 rating points which were only six points higher than that of the Black Caps. The Aussies, on the other hand, remain on the third spot.
Indian captain Virat Kohli also managed to stay on the second top spot in the batting rankings of the Test format as Steve Smith remained to be the first. Other Indian players who moved up the rankings were Prithvi Shaw and debutant Kyle Jamieson.
While some Indian players had moved up the rankings, some had to make way for the New Zealand players who made it to the top 10 after their performance on the tour. Some New Zealand cricketers who moved up were bowlers Tim Southee who now holds the 4th spot and Trent Boult who moved to the 9th spot.
