England captain Joe Root was asked to stay in his hotel room due to a stomach complication, therefore missing out on the Sunday practice of the team.
England’s 29-year-old batsman and team captain Joe Root was forced to stay on his hotel room with an upset stomach while the rest of his team members trained last Sunday. Their team practice is to serve as a preparation for their upcoming third Test match on Thursday against South Africa.
The team captain is expected to be present on their upcoming training on Monday that is to be held on Port Elizabeth. This serves as a big problem to the England Team who now has its players suffering from illness and injury.
After Rory Burns and James Anderson had been sent home due to injuries, the team remains hopeful that their captain will be fit to play with them on the next Test match.
Currently, Root is being isolated and is given ample time to recover from his stomach complication. Should he not make it on Thursday, his place on the side may be replaced by Jonny Bairstow. Chris Woakes may also be in line for a recall after Anderson’s injury that sent him home.
Despite these complications in the England team, the Test match will push through on Thursday with the odds for South Africa being -101.01 and the odds for England being -116.28. To know the cricket odds of other upcoming matches, head over to Betwala.
