Bairstow was dropped from the Test squad for the upcoming New Zealand tour
England cricketer Jonny Bairstow is focused to regain a spot in the Test side of the England Cricket Team. They will tour New Zealand starting in November. He is included in the T20 squad who will play against the Kiwis. Bairstow is hoping that he can be recalled for the Test side who will play against South Africa, regardless of the position that will be given to him.
‘I don't see why T20 performance cannot influence Test selection’, Bairstow said. ‘If you're scoring runs - no matter the format - it definitely influences things’.
‘I don't mind if I keep. I just want to return to the squad to try and get back in the side. Wherever that may be hopefully there's an opportunity that arises and hopefully I'll be able to take that when it does’, he added.
Bairstow was omitted from the Test squad for the New Zealand tour. He failed to score a good number of runs since early 2019. Despite his poor scoring of runs for Test cricket, he managed to maintain his spot in the T20 squad.
England is scheduled to play two T20I warm-up matches on October 27 in Lincoln. It will be followed by the five-match T20I series which will begin on November 1 in Christchurch. Odds of the upcoming matches will be available soon on Betwala.
