The captain of the English cricket team, Eoin Morgan, said that Jos Buttler is one of the greatest-ever white-ball cricketers of England.
Yesterday, the T20I series of England’s tour of South Africa concluded with a victory for the visiting team by 5 wickets. This win helped England seal the T20I series with an overall of 2-1.
The final T20I match ended with a final score of 226 for England, with Jos Buttler scoring a total of 57 off 29.
England’s captain in the limited-overs, Eoin Morgan said that even if Buttler failed as a top-order batsman in the final T20I at SuperSport Park Cricket Stadium, he still would’ve considered him as one of the greatest English batsmen.
Buttler’s incredible performance led Morgan to conclude with the decision to retain him as top of the order for the upcoming T20 World Cup.
Morgan said, ‘If he'd failed today, he still would have been considered in the top three’.
He continued, ‘He's a very fine player. He's got unbelievable ability to take any bowling line-up apart, and to have somebody in your side like that is great. I don't think he played that well today, but he got a score on the board and set a really good platform for us to try and chase a score down along with Jonny (Bairstow)’.
England and South Africa will meet once again for the 24th match on the upcoming T20 World Cup. The seventh edition of the tournament will happen from October 18 to November 15, hosted by Australia.
Before that, Buttler is set to participate in the 2020 edition of the IPL that will begin on March 29. Buttler has played for the Rajasthan Royals since 2018.
