Kagiso Rabada gives advice to new cricket players about facing Virat Kohli in the tour.
Proteas pacer Kagiso Rabada said that the upcoming match between South Africa and India is a good opportunity to know where his team stands against the best cricket team.
Rabada said that the coming years are going to be a challenge for South Africa.
‘I am really looking at the next couple of years. It's a challenge for us, it's a journey. The group has belief in its abilities and we need to see how we fare on this tour of India’, he said.
South Africa’s tour of India is the team’s first assignment ever since they were knocked out of the preliminary stage during the World Cup.
‘The goal is to compare ourselves with the best. India has been a successful team over the years. been some changes and our team is now a lot younger. It's a challenge for those who haven't played here earlier’, he added.
South Africa will play without the guidance of most of its senior members. Faf Du Plessis is unavailable for the T20I, while senior players Imran Tahir and Hashim Amla are retired. Bowler Dale Steyn was not picked for the tour squad.
Rabada said he’d rather look on the positive side of things.
‘You need to look at the transition phase in a positive way. I am glad that I am playing with guys that I have played at school at the age-group level and that's fascinating for me.’
While the 24-year-old- player believes that India is an intimidating enemy, he said that South Africa will win the tour series.
‘There will be a few debuts. Players who have not played against an Indian team, especially such good quality. We are going to see where we are at here. We believe we are going to win. It’s exciting and we are going to have fun’, he said.
South Africa’s Tour of India will officially start on September 15. The teams will play three sets of T20I’s, Test, and ODI’s. The test match will mark the Proteas’ campaign for the World Test Championship.
