While fielding at short leg, Kevin Kasuza was hit on the helmet and suffered a mild concussion.
Currently, Zimbabwe is in the middle of a Test series against Sri Lanka with the first match that started last Sunday at the Harare Sports Club.
Yesterday was the fourth day of the first Test match which ended with Zimbabwe’s trail by 127 runs to Sri Lanka’s 515.
Unfortunately, Kevin Kasuza was hit on the helmet after Kusal Mendis attempted to play a pull on Ainsley Ndlovu’s delivery. It happened during the last over before the scheduled lunch break on the third day. Kasuza was seen immediately walking out of the field.
Due to this, Kasuza was ruled out of the current series against Sri Lanka after he has shown symptoms similar to a mild concussion. He has been replaced by Brian Mudzinganyama.
Zimbabwe Cricket said, ‘Although initial assessments ruled out a concussion, Kasuza has been closely monitored by medical staff overnight and this morning he reported a persistent headache and feeling groggy’.
Zimbabwe won the toss and decided to bat. In the first innings, Kasuza scored an incredible half-century. Together with Prince Masvaure and Craig Ervine, they helped reach 358 as they held Sri Lanka on the field for 148 overs.
Zimbabwe (+2200) is set to continue their match against Sri Lanka (+1) today.
