Kohli and Bumrah rested for upcoming Test matches against Windies
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced team captain Virat Kohli and fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah will not be a part of the upcoming T20I and one-day international (ODI) series against West Indies. BCCI stated this is needed so they can rest and be ready for the Test series scheduled after T20I and ODI matches.
“Virat and Jasprit will certainly be rested for the three-match T20Is and three-match ODI series,” said a BCCI official that wished to remain anonymous in an interview with PTI. “Virat has been playing since (the) start of Australia series and Bumrah’s workload management is also paramount. They will join the team before the Test series.”
“With (the) first Test (match) in Antigua starting (on) August 22, there would be enough time for the key members in the World Cup squad to get (their) much needed rest.”
India’s T20I match series against West Indies will begin on August 3 at Central Broward Regional Park in Florida. T20I, ODI, and Test matches were scheduled after the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 ended on July 14. The Men in Blue lost in the semi-finals against New Zealand and host nation England eventually bagged the World Cup trophy. If you want to know how the tournament works, check out Betwala’s article.
