Indian bowlers scored huge figures which contributed to their final score
The Indian Cricket Team team competed against South Africa in Visakhapatnam on Sunday. In the fifth day of the first Test, the Men in Blue claimed the victory. The home team won by 203 runs against the Proteas where they finished the match with 502 for 7.
India Cricket Team captain Virat Kohli lauded praise on his team member Mohammed Shami. The fast bowler picked up his five-wicket haul which helped the team to win. His figures also helped the team dismiss the opposing team for 191 in the 2nd innings.
‘Shami has been the strike bowler for us in the 2nd innings consistently now. If you see all his 4, 5-wicket hauls, it comes in the 2nd innings where the team invariably needs it. He reverses it well. That's his strength. All the guys stood up to their strength. The bowlers had it tougher to keep going in these conditions. So they deserve a little bit of extra credit’, Virat Kohli said.
The skipper also praised R. Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja who also shone in the match. Jadeja took his 200th wicket in red-ball cricket. Ashwin also achieved a new record in his career where he became the joint-fastest bowler who took 350 wickets in 66 Test matches.
‘Jaddu and Ash, again, were really really good. Ash, in the first innings, was outstanding, given the conditions. The pitches were flat, they got a few boundaries away. We have to accept that because we all got 500. There weren't any demons in the first innings. We always knew this was going to be a 2nd innings game. The fact he picked up 6 (7) wickets in the first innings is a great effort from his end’, Kohli said.
India and South Africa will proceed for the 2nd Test match. It will begin on October 10 in Pune. The home team (-833.33) has the best odds to win against the Proteas (+580). Check out the latest cricket odds on Betwala.
