Kohli Reveals Why Rahul Will Still Keep Wickets for NZ Tour

Virat Kohli reveals in an interview that Rahul will not just keep wickets for ODIs but also for the T20Is against upcoming New Zealand tour.

Indian captain Virat Kohli announces in an interview with the press that K.L. Rahul will remain as their wicket-keeper for their upcoming match against New Zealand. The team’s strategy of making Rahul a wicket-keeper after Rishabh Pant’s injury seemed to work well on their last ODI matches Australia.

Kohli said that the team will retain their set-up in Rajkot which seemed to be an effective style that may also be used for their upcoming T20Is. Rahul had performed well as a wicket-keeper and his performance had opened up some extra options for the management.

Rahul worked well as a batsman and as a wicket-keeper which gave balance to the team’s performance. Rahul’s position as a wicket-keeper, Kohli says, does not mean that anything has been taken from anyone.

The team may also alter some of their plans as they intend to have KL Rahul bat at the top for the T20Is. However, another thing being considered is that another guy will be placed at the top while Rahul just plays wherever he seems to be comfortable.

The Men-in-Blue captain also stated that Rahul is a total team man who is open to accept any roles that may be given to him. Describing Rahul’s performance, Kohli stated that he is always involved in the game and that he’s a wonderful guy who brings balance to the team.

India’s T20 Series against New Zealand will take place on the 24th of January at the Eden Park in Auckland. The odds of the game are +144 for the Black Caps and -169.49 for the Men in Blue. To check other cricket odds, head over to Betwala.
