Shastri also said that Kohli’s love for Test cricket will have a massive impact not only in India but all over the world.
Ravi Shastri, team India’s head coach, has praised and applauded Virat Kohli. He said that with each passing day as the captain, he has been improving not just in terms of cricket but in general. He also added that the passion and intensity with which Kohli plays hasn’t changed throughout the years and has, in fact, grown.
Over the past few years that Kohli has been India’s captain, he has broken multiple records. He also helped his team win at Australia against the Aussies and made history when they won their Test series against them 2-1 for the first time.
Despite losing to both England and South Africa, 4-1 and 2-1 respectively, in their Test series, Kohli’s leadership has earned himself appreciation from his teammates. As a batsman, he was methodical and unstoppable by scoring the most runs in both series. His and his team’s aggressiveness was unseen and was a sight to see.
Under his leadership, the fast-paced bowling attack of the team has become one of, if not the best in the world. One of the main reasons as to why India has found great success is due to their ability to take wickets almost at will. All this happened when Kohli became the team’s captain.
However, despite his individual brilliance, Virat Kohli has still to get a grasp on the ICC trophy. Nevertheless, his and his team’s performance has been very consistent and has made them one of the cricket powerhouses.
In an interview with team coach Ravi Shastri, he said that no captain is perfect and Kohli isn’t an exception. He also said that as a head coach, he has also learned new things from different and various scenarios over the last few years.
‘Virat is someone who is improving every day. The passion and energy with which he plays the game is unmatched. I have not seen any other captain with the same passion and energy. Tactically he is getting better and with experience he will improve more… I have never seen a perfect captain. Everyone has their own strengths and weakness. A captain might have great strength in one department but lack somewhere else. Virat has learnt from different situations and the way he has taken Indian Cricket forward is remarkable’.
He then went on to say that Kohli’s passion for Test cricket will not only have a lasting impact on India but on the world.
‘When it comes to Test Cricket there is no one better than Virat Kohli to endorse the game all over the world. He loves playing Test Cricket the most that set an example for every cricketer. So as young cricketer when you see a great player like him focus so much on Test Cricket, You will want to emulate him whether you are from Australia, Sri Lankan or Pakistan’.
