Sri Lankan player Kusal Perera had been named as a part of the playing team against England despite being under-recovery from his finger injury.
Sri Lanka had dropped the names for their 16-member squad for the upcoming Test match against England which will start next week. Among those who were included was Kusal Perera who had recently suffered from a finger injury.
Even though Perera’s injury may allow him to be fit after an estimated span of two weeks, the Sri Lankan team decided to include him on the lineup. However, his availability is still questionable as it would all depend on his right middle finger’s recovery.
Perera sustained his injury during the T20I series against the West Indies. With that, he had been left out from the two-Test series against Zimbabwe which took place last January. This upcoming two-Test series against England may be his comeback to the team should he be able to make it.
Along with Perera, another player who had been included in the lineup was Wanindu Hasaranga who is still suffering from a hamstring injury. Hasaranga had been named as the 16th member of the squad. Due to his unavailability, a replacement for him is set to be picked before the first Test starts.
With Perera and Hasaranga’s inclusion, Lahiru Thirimanne had been left out of the lineup. This makes him the only one from the lineup against Zimbabwe to have been omitted for the upcoming match.
The two-Test series between The Lions and the England team will begin on March 19 at the Galle International Stadium. To further understand what Test matches are, visit Betwala.
