Amid the coronavirus outbreak, both the Lions and the Dolphins were crowned as the champions of the first-class and one-day competitions of South Africa.

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused several cancellations and postponements of cricket matches around the world. Among those which were affected was South Africa’s domestic season of 2019-2020. As the season can no longer push through because of the virus, CSA best decided to declare the winners immediately.

Following the recommendations of acting CSA director of cricket Graeme Smith, the Lions were declared as the champions of the 4-Day Franchise Series. Meanwhile, the Dolphins bagged home their second championship title of the Momentum One Day Cup.

The two teams had been declared as the champions as they both finished at the top of the points table of their respective competitions. Other semifinalists for the four-day franchise series and in the Momentum One Day Cup were the Titans, Warriors, Knights, Dolphins, and Cape Cobras.
