Lyon said team have nothing to lose unlike England ahead of match
Australia off-spin bowler Nathan Lyon said England will lose ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 because they are not starting the semi-finals as favourites.
“They’re full of world-class players and they’ve been the number one team for a couple of years now,” said Lyon in an interview after their final league-stage match against South Africa on July 6. “They should be going into this World Cup as favourites, it’s all on them. It’s their World Cup to lose if you ask me.”
“We’ve got nothing to lose, we’ve only got stuff to gain. That’s the exciting thing about it,” continued Lyon.
Australia will play their first semi-final match against England on Thursday at Edgbaston Cricket Ground. Australia currently have +124 odds to win the game while the home team have -147 odds.
