Mahmood hopes Black Caps will have a bad day in upcoming match
Pakistan bowling coach Azhar Mahmood stated that New Zealand has a history of winning matches until they get to an important match and they lose. This comes after Black Caps have reached the previous ICC Cricket World Cup semi-finals six times but have yet to win the tournament. Mahmood hopes that New Zealand will have a bad game in their upcoming match because of their history.
“New Zealand’s history is such that they get there winning, winning and then when a crunch situation comes up, in the semi-final, or quarter final, they don’t do that well,” stated Mahmood on Tuesday. “It can happen to any team. Everyone has to have a bad day. Hopefully New Zealand (will) have it tomorrow.”
Meanwhile, Mahmood praised Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir who took 15 wickets in five World Cup matches.
“Amir has started pushing his lengths up a little, allowing himself to swing the ball,” said Mahmood. “That has been key for us. It’s very important for us that he gives us early breakthroughs and he has that ability. His skills and ability have always been exceptional.”
Pakistan will be playing against New Zealand today at Edgbaston Cricket Ground. The Shaheens currently have +110 odds to win the match while Black Caps have -130 odds.
