Sri Lanka awarded their key players with individual honours as the country’s annual awards night concluded last Tuesday.
Lasith Malinga, the T20I skipper for Sri Lanka, has been awarded as the ‘Best ODI bowler’ and ‘Best T20I bowler’. Malinga received the awards on Sri Lanka Cricket’s annual awards night last Tuesday.
Lasith Malinga continues to be a force in short-form cricket despite his age. He had plans to retire after playing in the upcoming T20 World Cup, but later on changed his mind and said that he would play beyond the said tournament.
He stepped on the role for the second time after Sri Lanka left former captain Angelo Matthews and experienced Thisara Perera out of the young squad that battled with New Zealand back in September.
Meanwhile, other key players of the team received honours. Dimuth Karunaratne, the team’s ODI and Test skipper, was awarded as the ‘Best Test Batsman’. Thisara Perera also got the ‘Best T20 batsman’ and ‘Best all-rounder’ awards.
It was a night of history that showed appreciation to Sri Lanka Cricket’s dedicated players. Those awards were given as a reminder that Sri Lankan cricketers will never go unnoticed in the country.
Sri Lanka’s players will have a challenge as they are set to play Pakistan on December 11th. Pakistan has -212.77 on the cricket odds, while Sri Lanka has 178. Stay updated on the latest cricket odds with Betwala.
