Next month, the Marylebone Cricket Club will tour Pakistan with coach Ajmal Shahzad.
Safyaan Sharif from Scotland is one of the players who were announced as part of the MCC side for the upcoming tour of Pakistan.
The goal of the tour is to promote cricket in Pakistan and to alleviate fears from the international side on touring the country.
The assistant secretary of the MCC, John Stephenson said, ‘We are thrilled to be able to name a strong squad for this tour, which blends youth and experience for a strong side of high quality’.
He continued, ‘We have really appreciated the collaborative approach from the Pakistan Cricket Board and the Pakistan Super League, which has enabled us to arrange fixtures against sides preparing for this year's PSL tournament as well as to secure the services of some of those participating’.
The MCC squad will have additional players namely Liam Dawson, Samit Patel and Phil Salt. Each player will participate in a match for the club during the tour of Pakistan.
The players for the MCC squad includes captain Kumar Sangakkara and teammates, Ravi Bopara, Michael Burgess, Oliver Hannon-Dalby, Fred Klaassen, Michael Leask, Arron Lilley, Imran Qayyum, Will Rhodes, Safyaan Sharif, Roelof van der Merwe and Ross Whiteley.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Shaheens is composed of captain Saud Shakeel and teammates, Akif Javed, Haider Ali, Hasan Mohsin, Imran Rafiq, Mohammad Mohsin, Omair Bin Yousuf, Rohail Nazir, Saif Badar, Sameen Gul, Umar Khan and Zeeshan Malik.
The matches are set to happen from February 13 to 19 in Lahore, Pakistan.
