Mohammad Yousuf thinks Azam needs to improve in red ball cricket
Cricket legend Mohammad Yousuf shared why Pakistan batsman Babar Azam is at par with the best batsmen in the world. During the World Cup, Azam smashed 474 runs in eight matches. His impressive feat included a hundred and three fifties at an average of 67.71.
Azam is consistent with his performance during Pakistan’s ongoing ODI series against Sri Lanka. He was able to complete 146 runs in two matches in Karachi along with a century.
‘His (Babar’s) performance is right up there with the best in the world. He is at number three in ODIs and number one in T20Is. I would just advice and request him to give importance to the longer format the way major players such as Kohli, Smith, Williamson and Root do’, said Yousuf.
According to Yousuf, while Azam excels in the shorter formats of cricket, he needs to improve more in Test where his average is only at 35.28 in 21 matches.
‘Babar will have to improve his performance in Test cricket. Right now, he is the best player in Pakistan cricket. There is no one better than him’, added Yousuf.
‘Babar Azam plays very well in limited-overs cricket. He will definitely improve in the Test format as well. He has played some good innings recently in South Africa and then he went on to score a century against New Zealand in Tests’.
Pakistan and Sri Lanka are scheduled to play their third T20I tomorrow, October 9, 2019, at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
The cricket odds for tomorrow’s match are in favour of Pakistan (+2.86) while Sri Lanka is (-1.45). To see more cricket odds, check the page on Betwala.
