He will be the first Bangladeshi captain to lead the Tigers in the Day Night Test
Test captain Mominul Haque said that the captaincy came unexpectedly to him. He was appointed to lead the Test squad of the Bangladesh Cricket Team after Shakib Al Hasan was suspended last week due to his failure to report corruption approaches.
‘I was never ready (for captaincy) and it was totally unexpected. Never thought that I would be captain of Bangladesh team, the Test team. But however, I have got it, Alhamdulillah’, Haque said.
Haque said that he never thought that captaincy will add any pressure. He just focuses on playing their game and scoring runs. The skipper also mentioned about playing on the upcoming Day-Night Test in Indore and Kolkata.
‘I think this is a great opportunity. We have not played a Test under floodlights or with a pink ball before, so we think this is a good opportunity for us. If we can play good cricket, it will be a great’, he said.
Haque made outstanding performances in cricket. He has scored 2,613 runs in 36 Test matches. He was the only Bangladeshi batsman to score hundreds in both innings of a Test match.
His side faced defeat in yesterday’s T20I match against India in Rajkot. They are set to play the final T20I match on November 10 in Nagpur. Odds for the upcoming match will be updated soon. Check out the latest cricket odds on Betwala.
