Morgan said when they lost to Kiwis in 2015 was his lowest point
England captain Eoin Morgan said their 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup match defeat against New Zealand was the lowest point in his career. England only posted 123 runs in 33.2 overs while New Zealand scored 125/2 in 12.2 overs in their match at Wellington Regional Stadium.
“It was as close to rock-bottom as I’ve been,” Morgan said in an interview at Chester-le-Street on Tuesday.
“Certainly as a captain and as a player, being beaten off the park like that was humiliating,” continued Morgan. “New Zealand proved a point that you can actually be really good humans and grow the game and play cricket in your own way and win at the same time, which is incredibly eye-opening for a lot of countries in the world. I thought that rubbed off on everybody in the World Cup.”
England will be playing against New Zealand today at Riverside Ground. The home team currently have -244 odds to win the match while the Kiwis have +205 odds.
