Reports say that he has been training for a month to prepare for the upcoming IPL season.
One would think that hype and buzz that MS Dhoni has been generating for four months would disappear, but then you’d be wrong. Try searching ‘MS Dhoni’ on Google and a million search queries will pop-up, mostly regarding his supposed ‘retirement’. No one knows yet of his decision on his cricket career, but when he does decide, newspapers won’t run out of articles to write.
Ever since India lost in the ICC World Cup semi-finals to New Zealand, MS Dhoni has been lying low, avoiding the spotlight. He was the only captain to win the T20 World Cup in 2007, the 50-over World Cup in 2011, and the 2013 Champions Trophy. Following the early and unexpected exit from the World Cup, Dhoni went on a 15-day training program with the Indian Army. He didn’t say anything about his retirement - or at least, people don’t want to believe that he is going to retire.
Every time a team would be announced, people would immediately scan the names in search of Dhoni’s but to no avail. There are, however, reports that he has been training for a month and is focusing on the upcoming IPL season.
‘If at all MS will take a call on his future, it will only be after the IPL. You can’t stop speculation as he is such a big player. He is in the best shape possible fitness-wise and has been training hard for the last month. It all depends on when he starts playing and how he is playing during the IPL However the number of competitive games he will play before the IPL will be decided in due course’, a report said.
MS Dhoni was part of the Indian team that played in the ICC World Cup earlier this year. To find more about the ICC World Cup, visit Betwala’s page.
