Former India captains are invited to appear on the commentary as guests
Star Sports proposed to the BCCI that all former Men in Blue captains will be invited for the first two Test matches. The Test match between India and Bangladesh will be the first to use a pink ball. With the proposal given to the board, Mahendra Singh Dhoni will be seen to do commentary. Star Sports organized an audio commentary for the series.
‘Invite India Test captains for Day 1 & 2 of the Test. All captains at the ground along with (Virat) Kohli and the rest of the team as well as the dignitaries line up for the anthem. Captains appear on commentary as guests through the day to recollect their favourite moments from India's Test history. Down memory lane segments recorded with individual captains are played on the big screen at the ground in breaks Day 4 onwards’, Star Sports wrote.
It will be MS Dhoni’s first public appearance to cricket fans who waited for him. He took a long break from playing cricket since the conclusion of the ICC Cricket World Cup in July. Until this day, the former captain’s retirement is still speculated.
In the invitation, V.V.S. Laxman, Anil Kumble and Rahul Dravid were included. However, the latter two’s availability is still uncertain. Meanwhile, the BCCI granted cricket fans to watch the Men in Blue practice on Friday for free.
