The board of selectors chairman said that they are moving on as they are giving opportunities to youngsters
Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) chairman MSK Prasad spoke about the squads for the upcoming home series against Bangladesh. He mentioned about focusing on Rishabh Pant as the team’s first-choice wicketkeeper. The young cricketer has been in Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s spot since the West Indies tour.
‘This is our clear thought process that post-World Cup we are focusing on Rishabh Pant only’, Prasad said. ‘I made it very clear post the World Cup that we are moving on. We are giving opportunities to youngsters and see that they establish themselves in the side. With Rishabh Pant doing so well and even Sanju Samson coming into the side, I am sure you must be understanding our thought process’.
MS Dhoni has been absent from the team’s recent activities. Until now, there are still speculations about his retirement and fans’ questions about his future are still unanswered.
Prasad said that the board of selectors are giving an opportunity for young cricketers endorsed by MS Dhoni. He mentioned MS Dhoni is welcome to make himself available and free to choose the path he will walk once he resumes his career.
MS Dhoni’s last appearance was during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. This tournament is one of the biggest cricketing events in the world that happens once every four years. To know more about the World Cup, read the page on Betwala.
