Bangladesh wicketkeeper Rahim is injured ahead of West Indies match
Bangladesh wicket-keeper and batsman Mushfiqur Rahim is currently under observation after he suffered an injury below his right elbow during a batting session. Rahim tried to receive the Tigers’ fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman’s delivery which made him leave the nets immediately.
“The injury does not look serious, but he will be under observation for 12 hours and later we will decide the next course of action,” said a Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) spokesperson. “We can tell about its gravity only after the icing is completed because it will help us assess his condition only after the icing is completed.”
Besides Rahim’s injury, Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan injured his thigh when they played a ton against England in the ICC Cricket World Cup. Although it is not a grave injury to concern the team, other members are like captain Mashrafe Mortaza had not been at their best in the matches. Mortaza had cut his run-up short and opener Tamim Iqbal was injured on his arm during the Tigers’ game against South Africa.
Bangladesh will play against West Indies today at County Ground, Taunton. The Tigers currently have +172 odds to win the match while the Windies have -204 odds.
