The 2020 ICC U-19 World Cup recently concluded with the victory of the Bangladesh cricket team.
The 2020 edition of the ICC Under-19 World Cup happened from January 17 to February 9 in South Africa, where a total of 16 teams participated.
In the final match of the tournament, India and Bangladesh faced each other in the field for the championship title. Bangladesh won the toss and elected themselves to bat. The match resulted in Bangladesh’s first title after winning by 3 wickets.
The 14-man squad was composed of captain, Akbar Ali and teammates, Towhid Hridoy, Avishek Das, Shamim Hossain, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Shahadat Hossain, Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Shoriful Islam, Rakibul Hasan, Parvez Hossain Emon, Hasan Murad, Rishad Hossain, Prantik Nawrose Nabil and Amite Hasan.
According to BCB President, Nazmul Hasan, the team used a preparation template. The BCB game development chairman, Khaled Mahmud, proposed long-term planning after losing the semi-final match in the 2016 edition of the tournament.
Hasan said, ‘Surely we will be following this preparation template. In 2016, we were very confident of our team that they will play the final but it did not happen as we lost to the West Indies in the semifinal. Though we played in Bangladesh we understood our shortcomings and we started planning for the World Cup from that moment’.
Every four years, the ICC also hosts the ICC Cricket World Cup between international cricket teams. The tournament is considered the highest professional sports league from all cricket leagues.
