The BCCI cut ties with their previous sponsor Oppo in July 2019
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) posted a video on Twitter featuring some members of the Indian Cricket Team. In the video, Virat Kohli and other team members were seen on a shoot while wearing their new jersey for Test cricket matches. The logo of the BCCI and the name of the sponsor is printed on the shirt while the sides have black stripes.
In July this year, the BCCI ended their deal with Chinese mobile phone manufacturer, Oppo. They signed a deal back in 2017. It is a five-year contract for the sponsorship of the Indian Cricket Team. The deal was expected to end in 2022, however, it didn’t last long when the two parties parted ways.
Bengaluru-based mobile learning app Byju replaced Oppo. The contract will span from September 2019 to March 31, 2022.
‘Byju’s will be taking over all obligations of the current team sponsor OPPO mobiles India private limited (OPPO). Byju’s will now be seen on the Indian team jersey from September 2019 when the home series against South Africa begins’, BCCI CEO Rahul Johri said in July.
The Indian Cricket Team is slated to play the Test series which will begin today. To know more about Test cricket, read the page on Betwala.
