Cricket veterans Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Hafeez were recalled to the Pakistan team for the upcoming Bangladesh T20Is.
Pakistan’s head coach Misbah-ul-Haq rung in with some changes for the lineup for the upcoming Bangladesh T20Is. Pakistan has been on the losing streak for the past 12 months, earning 8 losses out of their 9 T20s. This led the team’s ranking to fall down.
Among the changes that will be seen in the upcoming Bangladesh T20Is is the return of veterans Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Hafeez. Both Malik and Hafeez hadn’t played for the international scene for some time, their last time being the World Cup last year.
‘Hafeez and Shoaib bring a total of 200 T20Is between them and if you mix these with the other youngsters we have in the side, then I think it becomes a good blend of experience and youth’, says Pakistan coach.
The team has already tried different combination of players which didn’t seem to be effective in boosting the team’s performance. The Men in Green’s coach also said in an interview that they will not stop mixing some senior and young players until they achieve a winning combination in the team.
With that, several players were dropped for the upcoming T20Is. Among those who were eliminated from the lineup were Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Amir, Asif Ali, Haris Sohail, Imam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Irfan and Wahab Riaz. All of the aforementioned players were part of the recent 2-0 defeat against Australia.
The dismissal of Mohammad Amir came in as a surprise for the fans as Amir had served a six-wicket haul in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League. Amir also became the fourth wicket-taker of the season as he plays for the Khulna Tigers.
The three T20Is will be held in Lahore on January 24, 25, and 27. To know the odds of the game, head over to Betwala.
