Pollard has played lots of cricket at Wankhede Stadium while featuring for Mumbai Indians in IPL.
West Indies coach Phil Simmons said that Kieron Polland will be a big factor in the T20I series-deciding game against India. The skipper has played for the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League and his experience will be a big help for the team.
Recently, the West Indies mounted a comeback and won the second game of the three-match series against India in Trivandrum. The Caribbeans performed excellently when needed, learning from their mistakes in the first game.
Simmons mentioned that Pollard has played multiple times at the venue and his experience ‘will be invaluable for the young bowlers in the side’. Also, according to Simmons, ‘no team can win the games if players drop catches’. He later added that players commit mistakes on the field and they come up with excuses. This is something he dislikes.
‘Kieron Pollard has played a lot at this venue, the others have not played that much. I think the experience which they have got from here is invaluable and especially the captain, as he has been here for 10 years… You will not win games if you drop them. The players will have to tell you if it is the lights or whether it is their execution or their position. I do not like excuses. I think if you drop a catch it is your fault. You can blame the lights but I think we just have to keep working hard so we do not drop any’.
T20s are the shortest format in cricket. A single innings consists of only 180 balls delivered legally. To find out more about the different cricket formats, visit Betwala’s page.
