Afghanistan players were involved in an altercation on Monday
The police were called after Afghanistan players were involved in an altercation at Akbar’s restaurant in Liverpool Road, Manchester on Monday before their match against England.
According to BBC, this happened because the unnamed Afghanistan players confronted a citizen after their refusal to be filmed was ignored. A statement released by the Greater Manchester Police (GMP) on Tuesday confirmed that they responded to a call in Akbar’s after 11:15 PM local time (22:15 GMT).
“Shortly after 11:15 PM on Monday 17 June 2019, police were called to reports of an altercation at a premises on Liverpool Road in Manchester,” said the GMP in a statement. “Officers attended the scene. No one was injured and no arrests have been made. Enquiries are ongoing.”
Meanwhile, England won by 150 runs on Tuesday where Afghanistan scored 247 in 50 overs. Afghanistan’s next match will be against India on Saturday at Rose Bowl Cricket Ground. The minnows currently have +1150 odds to win the match while the Men in Blue have -2500 odds.
