20-year-old Prithvi Shaw had been ruled out from practice games in preparation for the upcoming matches in New Zealand.
Mumbai opener Prithvi Shaw had been ruled out from practice matches in New Zealand due to a shoulder injury that he had during the Ranji Trophy against Karnataka.
The accident happened when Shaw awkwardly fell while covering for an overthrow. MRI scans show how badly hurt his rotator cuff on the left shoulder is. His left shoulder also sustained some labrum injury which caused him to be ruled out of India A’s two practice matches in New Zealand.
Upon being ruled out, Shaw was immediately sent out to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru to be rehabilitated. With his ongoing rehabilitation, Shaw’s participation in the three ODI’s and two unofficial Test matches is still in doubt.
A later call will be made to confirm if Shaw can make it back in time for the game. Reports earlier stated that Shaw will be picked out for India Cricket Team's Test tour as a backup opener for Mayank Agarwal and Rohit Sharma. However, it is with his latest injury that puts his presence in the upcoming games questionable.
The team’s tour is set to begin on the 22nd of January with the ODI’s while the Tests are bound to begin on January 30.
Prithvi Shaw plays for the Delhi Capitals. For more information about the team, head over to Betwala and learn more about them as well as other teams that make up the Indian Premier League.
