Prithvi Shaw passed his fitness test and is set to join the India A squad in New Zealand.
During Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy match against Karnataka, Shaw suffered a shoulder injury after trying to save an overthrow. However, he recently passed his fitness test and will be part of the squad against New Zealand.
On Tuesday morning, Shaw cleared his mandatory yo-yo test at the National Cricket Academy. He is scheduled to fly out on January 16 or 17 to join the India A squad in New Zealand.
Shaw already missed two games, but he will be included to the first ODI between India A and New Zealand A on January 22, at Eden Park, New Zealand.
He wasn’t chosen for the Test team on Sunday due to the uncertainty of his current condition. However, it is now likely for him to be the third opener in India’s Test team.
A source said, ‘We have a few issues to sort out. The teams for the ODIs and Tests in New Zealand will be picked after the ODI series in India’.
They haven’t selected the ODI squad yet because of all-rounder, Hardik Pandya’s unclear schedule, after recently recovering from a lower back injury. Selectors also want to observe the current ODI series against Australia before choosing the squad against New Zealand.
