Pujara signed a short-term contract with Gloucestershire and will feature in the opening game.

Cheteshwar Pujara, a right-handed batsman who plays for India National Cricket Team has signed a short-term contract with Gloucestershire for the upcoming county season.

‘I am really excited to represent Gloucestershire this season. The club has a rich cricketing history and this is a great opportunity to be a part of it and contribute to its success. I cannot wait to get to Bristol, meet my teammates and score some runs’, Pujara said.

Gloucestershire, the club which signed Pujara for six games has been promoted to Division One and is set to play top-division county cricket after 15 seasons. It is also one of the 18 first-class county clubs who have played in every top-level domestic competition in England.

‘Cheteshwar is a player with great temperament who will add international experience to the squad. Adding Pujara to a strong batting line-up gives me great confidence ahead of our opening county championship matches’, Richard Dawson stated, Gloucestershire’s head coach.

Pujara is one of only two Test specialist who will not feature for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) making himself available for the English county season. He also previously played with Derbyshire in 2014, Yorkshire in 2015 and 2018, and Nottinghamshire in 2017.

The County Championship will officially begin on April 12 while the final round matches will be on September 22. To learn more about cricket leagues, check out Betwala’s page for more information.
